My grandfather was diagnosed with stage 6 alzheimers. He’s forgotten how to feed himself, clean himself, use the restroom, and communicate with others. He needs hearing aids and glasses, which he will just pull? off/out, and misplaced long ago so the world is just a blur to him. I feel awful, and like he feels alone, because he has to be in a secured facility to keep him from just walking out the front door and searching for my now dead grandmother. What you’re doing is so beautiful.
My MOm needs total care? too. She can’t even hug me anymore, but she can smile and laugh and giggle so that’s what I make my visits about these days…JOY!
My grandfather passed away in January of 2008. He? was diagnosed with Dementia that then turned into Alzheimer’s. He could only remember my grandmother and the daughter who took care of him. I would visit him and see him everyday. He never truly remembered who I was but when I would sing to him, he turned into a completely different person. His face lit up, his smile was enchanting and he would sing the whole song. Music has such power! The is amazing and beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for wriitng? what a great experience to share with others!
I love your work,?
Wow! It doesn’t get much better than this! I would love to speak with you more. You have really put a smile in? my heart!
As a musician I believe so deeply in the power of music. I also see in this video that the response is joy which is deeper than memory of our life. We are energy essence as love and joy, and life is but a story that is born and ends…yet our soul, our spirit live beyond all this. This illness if? anything shows that we are much more than our memories tell us we are. Thank you for your video!
@jsingh108 I agree!? Keep on playing we need to hear the music!

@AlzheimersSpeaks I since have spoken to my violin teacher who has Alzheimers and he kept forgetting things in our conversation. I realized that I was a bit? anxious for him..but he was not anxious for himself unless he perceived I was anxious for him. These are all transitions and changes that are inevitable. They are living it so they don’t feel it but we know how it was and so we are the ones that have a hard time with the change. They are just re emerging to source energy their own way.
